Benue Governor Seeks Partnership With Ex- UK Minister On Agric

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, met with Baroness Sandip Verma, a former UK minister of energy and climate change, on Saturday. During the meeting, Alia highlighted the state’s abundant agricultural investment opportunities for foreign investors.

The governor acknowledged Baroness Verma’s past development work in Nigeria and Africa, expressing confidence in her potential contributions to Benue.

“We are the food basket of the nation, we lost out on opportunities in the past, but our current efforts aim to unlock these benefits for our people and the state,” the Governor said.

Baroness Verma, currently a member of the UK House of Lords, expressed gratitude for the invitation. She also emphasized her connection to Nigeria, offering support for the country’s women empowerment initiatives.
