Breaking: Minimum Wage: NLC, TUC Declare Indefinite Nationwide Strike June 3

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congres (NLC) Comrade Joe Ajaero and his counterpart at the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade Festus Osifo on Friday declared an indefinite nationwide strike starting from Monday June 3, 2024 .

The decision was taken after the federal government’s refusal to increase the earlier N60,000 minimum wage proposal. The meeting had ended in a deadlock.

The labour unions said the government delegation that invited them to the meeting of Friday were absent but but sent representative

This, according to them, was a sign of unseriousness from the government in the discussion for minimum wage.

THE WHISTLER had earlier reported that the federal government invited the leadership of organised labour for fresh talks on Friday as it battled to meet the May 31 deadline set by the union for the government to end negotiations on the proposed new minimum wage.
