Ogun pensioners commend Abiodun on N2bn gratuity 

Pensioners in Ogun state have expressed gratitude to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun on the release of two billion naira to reduce the backlog of accrued gratuities.

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), in a letter signed by its chairman, Comrade W.O Oloyede, said the gesture by the governor will assist their members in the face of the prevailing economic challenges facing the country.

Oloyede requested for the release of the much awaited consequential Increase in Pensions before the impending new wage increase.

“The executive council and the entire membership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ogun state council, heartily express deep and profound heartfelt appreciation to our kind-hearted, loving and compassionate executive governor, Dapo Abiodun, CON, for your benevolence at releasing the sum of N2 billion to Ogun state pensioners (state and local government). 

“We further wish to use this medium to express immense gratitude for the regular and prompt payment of monthly pensions as well as the extension of the payment N10, 000 fuel subsidy palliatives for a period of nine months which ended in March, 2024.

“Your Excellency, we are also very grateful for your consideration at including us, the retirees among the beneficiaries of the government subsidised rice-sale outlet as has been made available to the mainstream workers.

“Your Excellency, in furtherance to the major demands of the entire membership of the Nigeria Union Of Pensioners, Ogun state council, we hereby make passionate appeal and request for the release of the much awaited Consequential Increase in Pensions before the impending new wage increase. This is intended to lift the vulnerable and very aged out of the paltry earnings that can hardly feed an individual talkless of procurement of drugs to take care of multiple health challenges”, the letter reads.
