Atiku Blames Tinubu Over Twin Suicide Bombing In Borno
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has blamed President Bola Tinubu for what he called resurgent cases of bombing in the North East.
Atiku stated on Sunday via a statement he shared on social media that the president’s poor handling of the country is enabling fresh attacks, warning the country could slide back to orgy of terrorism if nothing was done.
The warning followed twin bombing on Saturday at a motor park area in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, killing over six people.
The first attack was carried out by a female suicide bomber, who detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a motor park according to the Borno Police Spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso, during a phone conversation with THE WHISTLER.
The Police Spokesperson said, “On the 29th of June, at about 3:40 pm, a suicide bomber who is a woman went to a busy motor park near a T junction in Gwoza. The place is Mararaba.
“She detonated an explosive and she had a baby wrapped behind her which killed her, the baby and six others and left 15 people wounded. Further updates will be discussed please.”
The second attack which followed immediately was carried out by a suspected bomber, who disguised as a mourner before detonating another explosive device in another location in the same local government killing one and injuring 18.
Atiku said it’s “a sad development that the ugly incidents of terrorism are resurfacing and, indeed, metastasising in the North-East.”
He condemned the attacks saying, “It is unfortunate that much of the pushback that had been achieved against the Boko Haram terror sect are being cancelled, owing mainly to the government’s lacklustre posture to hold firmly on the frontline.
“It is thus important to call on the federal authorities to wake up to their responsibility and to make sure that the North-East does not slide back into a theatre of terrorism and extreme violence.
“My condolences go to the families of victims of these attacks, and it is my prayer that God grants a peaceful repose to the souls of the departed.”
