FaZe Clan CEO Banks Refutes Allegations of View-Botting by New Members

FaZe Clan CEO Richard “Banks” responded to accusations that new members were artificially boosting their Twitch stream views through view-botting. Following FaZe’s acquisition by GameSquare and Banks assuming the role of CEO, he initiated a restructuring in April 2024, aiming to rejuvenate the organization.

In a recent post, Banks defended members like Lacy, Max “plaqueboymax,” and Jason “jasontheween,” who have been garnering substantial viewership on Twitch. Addressing the allegations of view-botting, Banks emphasized that the high viewer counts were a reflection of FaZe Clan’s current popularity and the members’ genuine engagement with their audience.

“The fact any of yall think the boys are viewbotting just shows the kinda motion FaZe got right now. I’m here to assure you guys they’re not. Just the homies cracking off, grinding, having fun. With love always,” Banks stated

During FaZe Clan’s restructuring phase, Banks removed several creators from the roster and introduced new members like Max, Silky, Jason, and Lacy. Additionally, Banks launched FaZe Media in collaboration with DraftKings co-founder Matt Kalish, marking a significant investment in the organization’s expansion.

Reflecting on the changes, Banks recalled criticism from skeptics during the restructuring, highlighting the shift towards a more autonomous and fun-focused approach within FaZe Clan. He criticized past corporate influences, emphasizing the organization’s new direction centered on personal enjoyment rather than external pressures.

“Who remembers 2 months ago when everyone was spamming me ‘Who the f**k are these people? You’re ruining FaZe. You’re an idiot,’” Banks reminisced, contrasting the current creative freedom with previous corporate constraints.

Banks reaffirmed FaZe Clan’s commitment to authenticity and enjoyment, asserting that the organization now prioritizes personal fulfillment over corporate interests. As the debate continues online, Banks’ response aims to reassure fans and stakeholders of FaZe Clan’s integrity amidst its ongoing evolution in the esports and streaming communities.
