Female Suicide Bomber Backing Baby, ‘Mourner’ Kill Six, Injure Over 15 In Borno Twin Attack — Police

No fewer than six people have been reported dead after a female suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a motor park area in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Borno Command Spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso in a phone conversation with THE WHISTLER, confirmed that the incident occurred on Saturday, at the motor park, located at a T-Junction in Gwoza, called Mararaba.

The suspect, identified as a young woman in her early twenties had detonated the device, and led to no fewer than 15 persons sustaining various degrees of injury.

The Police Spokesperson, while confirming the incident said, “On the 29th of June, at about 3:40 pm, a suicide bomber who is a woman went to a busy motor park near a T junction in Gwoza. The place is called Mararaba.

“She detonated an explosive and she had a baby wrapped behind her which killed her, the baby and six others and left 15 people wounded. Further updates will be discussed please.”

Meanwhile, another suspected bomber disguised as a mourner detonated an explosive device in another location in Gwoza LGA.

The police also confirmed that the incident occurred while preparations were ongoing for the funeral of the victims killed in the early attack at Mararaba.

The military has reportedly announced a curfew in Gwoza to forestall any further threat.
