Jason Momoa's Dream DCU Recasting Gets Weird In Genre-Bending Crossover Art

Summary

  • Lobo fan art hints at exciting possibilities for My Adventures with Superman crossover, if the ultra-violent character could be toned down.
  • Lobo’s adult-themed, Deadpool-esque nature makes him a compelling addition, despite concerns about his violent tendencies in a PG-rated show.
  • Lobo’s potential introduction in My Adventures with Superman could add depth and complexity to the series, showcasing his rich history with Superman.

An incredible piece of crossover fan art is strong vindication for Jason Momoa‘s dream DCU re-casting. Since the DCEU came to a close with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Momoa’s cinematic future with DC Studios is looking decidedly unclear. Nevertheless, with DC’s Co-CEO James Gunn refusing to rule out re-casting DCEU actors in the DCU, there is one fan-favorite character in particular that Jason Momoa would be perfect for, and whom, in turn, would be a perfect addition for the animated DC show.

Reddit user u/M00r3C posted an interesting depiction of Lobo (created by @saturdaymorningproj) if the character was introduced to My Adventures with Superman rendered in the same characteristic art style.

The image shows Lobo, who has yet to be introduced to the show, pulling Clark Kent and Lois Lane in for a tight hug as if posing for a picture, stating “Say Frag!” The image successfully conveys Lobo’s heavy-handedness and evokes an enticing image of how his involvement would bring a fresh new spin – even if the ultra-violent Czarnian probably wouldn’t gel with the show’s PG rating.

Now I REALLY Want Lobo & My Adventures With Superman To Crossover

Lobo is a notoriously adult-themed DC character whose penchant for violence is comparable to Marvel’s Deadpool, with a similar set of powers, to boot. The Last Czarnian is responsible for wiping out his own species and known for his use of nearly foul language, including his most famous invention: “Bastitch.” This word is referenced in one comment on the Reddit post as users enthuse about a possible Lobo crossover in My Adventures with Superman and what the character might say.

It is a sentiment that I share; Lobo’s arrival in the celebrated DC Animated series would certainly shake things up. The fact that Lobo tends to tiptoe around foul language is certainly a point in his favor, while it is easy enough to assuage his overly violent MO in an animated series. Lobo and Superman have a rich history in DC Comics, so it would be fitting to have the intergalactic bounty hunter find his way to Earth and join the myriad villains that Clark Kent has tussled with thus far.

Lobo has appeared throughout the DC Animated Universe voiced by Brad Garrett.

My Adventures With Superman Season 3 was recently confirmed to be in development, which is no surprise given the hugely positive response to the show thus far. Details, however, are scarce – including a concrete release date and whether it might debut such DC fan-favorites as Lobo. Now that Superman’s Kryptonian cousin, Kara Zor-El, has been officially introduced, the arrival of other intergalactic characters looks more viable than ever.
