David Corenswet’s Superman crosses paths with an upcoming DC Universe property in new set photos and videos for the 2025 movie. With Gunn’s DC Universe on its way, many are following the latest details coming out of the Superman movie set as the first Chapter 1 title enters its final stretch of production. Over the last few days, closer looks at Corenswet’s Superman costume have made their way online, along with the many confirmed cast members in the film.
With Superman still undergoing principal photography, more details are emerging about the highly anticipated DC Universe movie. Through new Superman set photos and videos by @MikeNormanCLE and @DCverso1, respectively, a massive scene features the Man of Steel in a very surprising situation: getting arrested. He meets one of the new DC Universe characters from the Creature Commandos TV show while also getting a glimpse of a mystery player.

Who Is The Mysterious New Superman Character?
There Are A Few Possibilities
For the time being, it is unknown who the new actor is, since they are masked up. As there are currently no other actors that have been announced as part of the Superman movie cast in an undisclosed role, it’s possible this is a casting that will be revealed at a later time. However, there are a few intriguing possibilities of whom this player may be and how they pertain to the overall story.
With the character completely dressed in a black uniform, one of the most distinct features of the suit is that they have a U-symbol on it. One option is that the figure in the Superman set photos is a new take on Ultraman, traditionally known as Clark Kent’s evil doppelgänger from Earth-3. If Superman is doing a fresh depiction of Ultraman outside the comics, it would make sense why he is covered up with a mask.
If it is not Ultraman who is seen next to Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr., the other possibility is that it is the villain Neil Quinn, a.k.a. Ulysses, who could be working with the military against Superman. Given how he has similar powers to Krypton’s last son, it would make sense why he would get involved in the apparent arrest of Superman. However, until Gunn or DC Studios confirms it themselves, everyone will have to keep speculating about the new figure from the Superman set and why the superhero is being taken in by the military.
