NUJ to confer grand patron award on Makinde July 8 

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is to confer the union’s Grand Patron award on Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde. 

The union in a statement on Sunday stressed that the grand patron award would be presented to Governor Makinde by the NUJ president, Dr Chris Isiguzo on July 8.

According to the statement made available to journalists by the Oyo state NUJ chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola, the award s in recognition of Governor Makinde’s contributions to the development of Oyo state,

The union lauded the governor for his people-oriented policies, programmes as well as the successful hosting of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting presided over by NUJ president, Dr Isiguzo in Ibadan on June 21.

While applauding the governor’s achievements in the state, the union urged him to sustain the tempo of development, stressing that the NUJ commendation “is a testament to Governor Makinde’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Oyo state and his dedication to infrastructural development.”

It will be recalled that the NUJ president, after the NEC meeting, led other members on a tour of some of the Oyo state government projects, including the circular road and Challenge Terminals, amongst others.
