Liam Neeson‘s $493M mythological epic is moving to a new streaming home come December. For Neeson, 2024 was a busy year chock-full of new projects, including filming the Seth MacFarlane-developed Naked Gun reboot set for release in August 2025. His other projects released in 2024, including Absolution and Wildcat, are awaiting worldwide releases following a limited theatrical run in the United States.




Neeson has built a formidable career with a balance of dramatic gravitas and commanding action roles, from his Oscar-nominated role as Oskar Schindler in Schindler’s List to redefining the modern action hero of Bryan Mills in Taken. Neeson’s ability to captivate viewers across a multitude of genres is impressive. Directed by Lous Leterrier, Clash of the Titans was a remake of the 1981 mythological classic, revolving around Sam Worthington’s Perseus as he embarks on a dangerous mission to stop Hades from destroying the city of Argos with the monstrous Kraken. Zeus starred in the Clash of the Titans remake cast as the Greek god Zeus, with Harry Potter franchise alum Ralph Fiennes playing Hades. Though garnering generally negative reviews from critics, the movie was a box office hit, grossing over $493 million worldwide, netting it a sequel with 2012’s Wrath of the Titans.

Now, nearly 15 years after the movie first hit theaters, Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that the Clash of the Titans remake is coming to Max on December 1. This marks a return to the platform, having previously made a home there as Warner Bros. distributed the movie in its original release before moving to other platforms. Its sequel, Wrath of the Titans, on the other hand, is only available to stream on AMC+.

What Critics Have Said About Clash of the Titans

They Were Not That Taken By The Movie

Holding a 27% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the Clash of the Titans remake fell well short of the original cult classic’s modest 63%. Even audiences weren’t all that thrilled by the updated version, with the remake holding a 40% while the original has a 70%. Arguably, the biggest points of criticism were the remake’s focus on CGI over the practical effects of the original, the conversion to 3D in post-production, and the screenplay. However, with the combined star power of Avatar vet Worthington and Neeson, it will be interesting to see if the new streaming home results in a surge in Clash of the Titans’ popularity.
