1 Marvel Release Proved Captain America Could Defeat The Avengers

Captain America is undoubtedly strong, but The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes actually proved that the Marvel hero could defeat the Avengers in the right circumstances. The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was an animated series that ran from 2010 to 2012. It featured the original Avengers roster of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man, and the Wasp, who were later joined by more characters. One of the heroes that joins a few episodes into Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is Captain America, which isn’t a surprise considering his importance to the team in both the comics and the movies.

Throughout the animated Avengers show, the team takes on a plethora of villains. As a series primarily directed towards a younger demographic, there was often a pretty clear line between good and bad forces in the majority of storylines. However, the Avengers fighting against one another is a topic many adaptations decide to take on – from the MCU timeline to wider Marvel movies and shows – and The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was no different. This serves to explain why one Captain America moment in season 1 shows the character fighting the Avengers, and even overpowering them.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Saw Cap Take On The Entire Avengers Roster

In The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes season 1, episode 9, the Avengers find Captain America’s frozen body in the Arctic. His body is defrosted, just as it would be in the MCU movie, and he is brought into the modern era. However, the version of Captain America from Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has a much more aggressive reaction to waking up decades later. He immediately assumes that the Avengers are HYDRA agents and begins to fight them.

Captain America manages to overpower most of the heroes, even crashing the Helicarrier they’re on. As the Avengers try to calm Cap down on land, he finally stops fighting when he’s shown the commemorative statue of him and Bucky Barnes. It is only a brief fight and Steve realizes that the Avengers are allies, but it’s a display of Captain America’s full powers against the team – although the beatdown he delivers is under some very specific circumstances.

Captain America’s Avenger Fight Does Have 1 Unfair Advantage

Captain America being able to overpower several Avengers members does say a lot about his strength levels, but the fact that it wasn’t a completely fair fight also has to be taken into account. Knowing that Steve is an ally meant that they wouldn’t have truly wanted to hurt him, and they also knew that his aggressive reaction was out of fear and confusion. The fighting they did was purely out of defense, which meant that the Avengers likely weren’t using their full power.

MCU: The Strongest And Weakest Members Of The Avengers

The MCU may be full of mighty heroes, but who is the strongest Avenger, and which members of the group have the weakest powers?

Since the Avengers wanted to subdue Cap, they were holding back. On the other hand, Steve went all out as he thought he was fighting enemies. Even though he is strong in his own right, he had an unfair advantage in the fight as the Avengers weren’t truly trying to fight him. He caught the team off guard as they weren’t expecting a fight in the first place. Whether Captain America would’ve been able to take the Avengers down at their full strength is one question, but his show of power in The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was impressive nonetheless.
