The Lagos State Government has paid over N1.5bn as compensation to over 150 beneficiaries whose properties were acquired by the state government for public interest.
Among the beneficiaries, include organisations, individuals, landlords, and tenants, affected by the construction of Pen Cinema, Agege Right of Way; LAMATA Bus Terminal, Abule Egba; LAMATA Right of Way in Oja Oba, Abule Egba; LAMATA Corridor, Maryland; Road Expansion in Orile Badagry; Katanguwa; Orile Badagry Road Expansion and Oyingbo Ultra Modern Bus Terminal by the Lagos State Government.
They were presented with cheques by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday in Ikeja, the state capital.
Speaking during the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu said that the payment of the compensations fulfilled the promise of fair compensation to citizens whose lands were acquired for the development of the state.
