Skeleton Crew episode 5 has just provided four major hints that Jude Law’s character is a Jedi after all. Since Law was introduced as part of Skeleton Crew‘s cast of characters, many have questioned his true identity. First introduced as Jod Na Nawood, the scoundrel was then given another name that provided a deep-cut Skeleton Crew Easter egg: Crimson Jack. Beyond that, Jod was referred to as Captain Silvo, the leader of Skeleton Crew‘s antagonistic pirates.
Skeleton Crew episode 5 then provided Jude Law’s apparent Star Wars “Jedi” with another name, Dash Zentin, further throwing his identity into doubt. However, one thing that has underlined every identity given by Law’s character is his usage of the Force. This seems to imply that Law’s character is one of the many Jedi survivors of Star Wars‘ Order 66, which Skeleton Crew episode 5 seems to further support. Via four major hints, Skeleton Crew may have revealed that Law’s character is a Jedi after all, though one who has fallen far from the Order’s path of light and peace.

The Weapon Of A Jedi Seemed Familiar To Jod
The biggest hint of Jude Law’s character being a Jedi in Skeleton Crew comes in the final shot of the episode. After a climactic duel that saw Jod become the new captain of the Onyx Cinder, complete with a brand-new weapon taken from Captain Tak Rennod’s vault. This weapon is synonymous with the Jedi, with Jod being the owner of a blue lightsaber.

The lightsaber was hidden in the vault and found by Wim, who attempted to use it to defeat Jod and keep Fern as the captain of Skeleton Crew‘s Onyx Cinder. However, the young boy lost control of the weapon, leading Jod to pick it up using the Force as Skeleton Crew episode 5 drew to a close. The weapon seemed familiar to Jod, with the character knowing instantly how to power it up, hinting at a Jedi past that saw him trained with the iconic laser swords.

The Words Of A Deceased Jedi Master Live On
Another hint at Jod’s potential Jedi history came earlier in the episode during a talk with Wim. When giving the child a pep-talk to give him some more confidence in their journey, Jod talks about Wim’s imagination. He states to Wim “Your focus determines your reality,” which is a direct quote straight from Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. These exact words are spoken by Qui-Gon Jinn to Anakin Skywalker in the first prequel film, hinting that Jod may have a connection to the old Jedi Master, or at least to the Order via the popular mantra.

In the same scene in Skeleton Crew episode 5, another hint at Jod’s Jedi connections is found. Before quoting Qui-Gon, Jod tells Wim that, ironically, he needs to forget about his parents and At Attin in order to focus on returning to the planet. Jod states that all of these things causing Wim to worry are known as attachments and that he is better off forgetting them.

Though the Jedi’s most controversial rule caused a lot of heartbreak and grief, it also undoubtedly saved many of the Jedi from themselves.
Jod insists that he has forgotten his own attachments, just as a Jedi is told to do from a young age. While Jod’s lesson to Wim feels notably less moral than the one pushed by the Jedi Order, the end result is the same. Jod may have learned to forego his attachments as part of his training as a Jedi, hinting that he may be from the Order after all.
Only A Trained Jedi Can Use The Force As He Does
The final hint that Jod is a Jedi in Skeleton Crew is peppered throughout all five episodes thus far: his usage of the Force. Although it was theorized that Jod was faking using the Force in the show’s earliest episodes, it now seems as though the character is actually capable of tapping into the mysterious energy field synonymous with the Jedi. More so than just being capable of using the Force, Jod’s control over it is remarkable.
From levitating small objects with precision to turning lights on and off, Jod has an intense connection to the Force. While some characters in Star Wars have been known to possess inherent connections with the Force, usually only Jedi who have had years of training can extend their will in such a precise way. If the events of Skeleton Crew are anything to go by, Jod could pass for someone with this kind of training, hinting he may be one of Star Wars‘ iconic space wizards after many teases to the contrary.
