Robert Pattinson's Role In Christopher Nolan's Next Movie Just Got Even More Exciting

Robert Pattinson’s schedule has been rather busy in recent years, and it won’t be slowing down anytime soon as he has joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and is set to appear in another highly-anticipated movie. While both projects are exciting, Pattinson’s role in The Odyssey became much more interesting after an upsetting update concerning his other film. Unfortunately, not much is known about the actor’s involvement in Nolan’s next story. But by taking all the factors into account, it will be difficult for The Odyssey to disappoint, especially concerning Pattinson’s part in it.

Per Universal Pictures (via X), Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is “a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”

Pattinson made his breakthrough in Hollywood when he starred as Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series. Afterward, though, the actor tried hard not to be typecast by taking on roles in various movies, from Robert Egger’s psychological thriller The Lighthouse to Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi black comedy Mickey 17. Pattinson also appeared in Nolan’s 2020 sci-fi spy action film Tenet. Now, Pattinson is a highly-regarded actor with a bright future, which anyone would be able to conclude just by looking at his list of future projects.

The Batman 2’s Latest Delay Makes Robert Pattinson’s Role In The Odyssey More Exciting

The Batman 2 Won’t Premiere For At Least Two More Years

Aside from The Odyssey, The Batman 2 is one of Robert Pattinson’s most highly-anticipated upcoming movies. He starred as Bruce Wayne (aka The Dark Knight himself) in Matt Reeves’ 2022 superhero reboot, and Warner Bros. Pictures quickly ordered a sequel following The Batman‘s successful theatrical run (it grossed over $770 million at the worldwide box office). While a second film starring Pattinson as Batman is quite exciting, the bad news is that it will be a long time before it premieres.

Christopher Nolanโ€™s $740M Movie That Should Have Won Him Best Picture 9 Years Before Oppenheimer Is Finally Streaming On Netflix

Christopher Nolan’s most groundbreaking sci-fi movie from the 2010s which was subbed at the Oscars is now streaming on Netflix in January 2025.

The Batman 2 was originally supposed to be released in theaters on October 2, 2026. However, according to Deadline, the sequel has been delayed one year, and its new premiere date is October 1, 2027. While certainly heartbreaking for those who loved The Batman, the sequel’s delay is great news for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The postponement indicates that Pattinson could have a big role in the upcoming adaptation of Homer’s epic poem. He won’t have to focus as much on The Batman and can dedicate more of his time to The Odyssey.

Who Could Robert Pattinson Be Playing In Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey?

Pattinson’s Role Is Unconfirmed

As mentioned above, no roles (including Robert Pattinson’s) in Christopher Nolan’s version of The Odyssey have been confirmed. So, it’s unknown who each cast member will play. However, because it’s an adaptation, one can assume which characters are up for grabs in The Odyssey. Roles like Odysseus, Penelope, Athena, Poseidon, Telemachus, Antinous, Circe, Calypso, Menelaus, Nestor, and Polyphemus will likely appear in the upcoming movie, and Pattinson could easily portray the story’s lead character.

Pattinson could undoubtedly pull off playing Odysseus in Nolan’s next movie after Oppenheimer. He does have some stiff competition in the cast, though, and it would be plausible if Matt Damon were to star as the main hero. If Odysseus is off the table, Pattinson could be playing Poseidon (the story’s villain). His versatility lends itself well to this film, where each character is unique and complex, meaning that Pattinson would be great as the hero or the villain; it simply doesn’t matter. Only time will tell what Pattinson’s role is in The Odyssey, which will premiere on July 17, 2026.

Robert Pattinson In Another Nolan Movie Will Help Ease The Wait For The Batman 2

The Batman 2 Will Premiere 5 Years After The First Film

The Odyssey is one of the only bright sides to The Batman 2‘s delay. It allows Robert Pattinson to focus more on the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie and helps ease the agonizing wait for the sequel (which will have been five years in the making when it eventually premieres). The Odyssey should provide everyone with their fill of Pattinson instead of waiting many years to see him in a much-anticipated project on the big screen.

The postponement of The Batman 2‘s premiere means Pattinson can dedicate more time to The Odyssey, helping fans get through this five-year wait for the next Batman movie.

Nolan’s upcoming project certainly didn’t need any more hype given that its announcement alone broke the internet. However, at least for those who are big fans of Pattinson, The Odyssey is now even more exciting. The postponement of The Batman 2‘s premiere means Pattinson can dedicate more time to The Odyssey, helping fans get through this five-year wait for the next Batman movie.
