Sebastian Stan And Anthony Mackie's Recent Real-Life Reunion Is Proof Marvel Needs To Make The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Season 2 Happen Immediately

2025 has started off with a reminder that a second season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier needs to happen immediately. The popular duo of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes got their own MCU series in 2021. Both were struggling, with Sam trying to step into the Captain America role and Bucky trying to atone for his actions as the Winter Soldier. Trying to navigate a life without their close friend Steve Rogers, Sam and Bucky’s friendship develops tremendously throughout the season.

Sam and Bucky were both in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but they didn’t truly start interacting as allies until Civil War. The two instantly became a beloved duo for their comedic bickering, and most of that success is due to the real-life chemistry between Mackie and Stan. Sam and Bucky are currently on different paths in the MCU, with Sam officially becoming Captain America and Bucky joining the Thunderbolts. However, Marvel would be smart to have their paths cross again in a second season, especially after a recent reminder of how fun of a duo they are.

Sebastian Stan And Anthony Mackie Had A Major Marvel Reunion Recently

Stan and Mackie were both present at the 2025 Golden Globes, with Stan scoring a win for his leading role in 2024’s A Different Man. Mackie presented alongside his Captain America: Brave New World co-star Harrison Ford and gave a shout-out to Stan on stage, saying “We’re still friends with Sebastian Stan, by the way.” The chemistry only got stronger after the show, where Mackie crashed several of Stan’s interviews after his big win.

During his interview with Entertainment Tonight, Stan happily stated that “Captain America and the Winter Soldier, we’re coming back!” upon seeing Mackie enter the room.

Stan thanked Mackie for his help during their MCU days, as Mackie helped bring him out of his shell during interviews and press events. In his Access Hollywood interview, Mackie presented Stan with a flower to which Stan sang his friend and co-star’s praises.

Talking yet again about how great of a help and influence Mackie was for him, Stan called Mackie “one of my favorite people.”

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier Season 2 Would Build On Mackie And Stan’s Chemistry

Sam and Bucky’s dynamic has become a fan favorite, and it is truly some of the best chemistry in the MCU. Though their characters are a lot more stoic and calm compared to them in real life, Mackie and Stan have always managed a way to incorporate lighthearted comedy into Sam and Bucky’s friendship among the more emotional moments. The Golden Globes were a reminder to Marvel fans that the duo is great, and that makes now the best time to start planning a second season for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
