The filming timeline for Reacher season 4 gets a clarifying update. Reacher recently wrapped up its third installment, with Alan Ritchson’s titular protagonist saving the day and literally riding off into the sunset. The series kicked off on Prime Video in 2022 and was an instant success for the streamer. After a rockier season 2, the series returned in form with the most recent season. Even though Reacher season 4 is confirmed, it’s not yet known which of the novels the Prime Video series will adapt. There is now another caveat to add to the mix.
TVLine provides an update on Reacher season 4, revealing that filming on the next installment will not begin until the upcoming Frances Neagley spinoff wraps production since the two shows largely share the same crew. Author and executive producer Lee Child previously mentioned that season 4 will begin filming in the summer, but that will be contingent on the schedule of Neagley.
What This Means For Reacher Season 4
Things Could Still Go As Planned
Reacher is Prime Video’s biggest show. Executives at the streamer would obviously want for there to be a new season of the action drama every year. That has been true so far, with episodes of Reacher airing in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. But the gap between each season is relatively significant, with Reacher season 2 almost skipping 2023 entirely and arriving at the very end of the year in December.

While only time will tell how the Neagley series will turn out, one Reacher season 3 gives a glimpse into all the potential the Reacher spinoff holds.
The upcoming Frances Neagley spinoff, led by Maria Sten, could alter plans. To take the example of another Prime Video franchise, The Boys and Gen V have alternated years. It could be that Reacher and Neagley do the same, with the spinoff coming in late 2025 and putting Reacher season 4 deeper into 2026. More will likely be confirmed in the coming months, with season 4 heading into production.
Our Take On The Reacher News
It’s A Bit Of A Gamble
A co-production between Skydance, Amazon, and Paramount, all of the interested parties would like to see if the show’s success can be recreated with a spinoff. Neagley, which will also star Greyston Holt, Jasper Jones, Adeline Rudolph, Matthew Del Negro, and Damon Herriman will hail from Reacher executive producer Nick Santora alongside Nicholas Wootton.
However the schedule ultimately plays out, it’s a positive sign for the Neagly spinoff by sharing many of the same creatives, likely meaning the show will maintain a high standard of quality. There’s a lot of connective tissue in place. If it pays off, it’ll be worth the risk of having to juggle the schedule.
