Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set to premiere next week, and there’s one theory that might reveal who Jude Law’s mystery “Jedi” character is – with a potential, and surprising, connection to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Skeleton Crew is set to tell an 80s-esque adventure of young children lost in space, where they will go toe-to-toe with Star Wars pirates. It’s known that Jude Law will be portraying a character named Jod Na Nawood, and it was originally believed that his character would be a Jedi; that, however, no longer seems to be the case.
Skeleton Crew will take place during the New Republic Era, likely at some point after The Mandalorian season 3. This could mean that different characters and storylines from other New Republic Era shows like The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, or The Book of Boba Fett could appear. With pirates having a long tenure and history in the Star Wars galaxy, Skeleton Crew can have some cameos. Despite this, Jod Na Nawood’s identity and background are still unclear.

If that child was also Force-sensitive, their Jedi parent could’ve trained them enough to conceal their abilities and not be caught by the Empire.

For years, there has been a Star Wars theory that Obi-Wan Kenobi was actually the father of Satine Kyrze’s “nephew”, Korkie Kryze. Korkie appeared in multiple episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and seemed especially close to the Duchess. Korkie’s parentage was never revealed, and considering that audiences have only met two of the Kryzes—Satine and Bo-Katan—it was assumed that Korkie was the child of a third, never-named sibling. Satine never admitted to having children and Bo-Katan was much too young to have a child Korkie’s age.

The Padawan of Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi became a Jedi Knight after his master’s death. Obi-Wan trained Anakin Skywalker as a Jedi, with his own apprentice knighted after the Battle of Geonosis. The Jedi Master became a key player in the Jedi during the Clone Wars, and was heartbroken when Anakin turned to the dark side; Obi-Wan critically wounded Anakin before taking to the shadows, watching over the young Luke and Leia for years. He sacrificed himself for his two charges, becoming a Force Ghost and continuing to mentor them.

If Star Wars wanted audiences to think that Korkie was the son of a third Kryze sibling, they only would’ve needed to put a throw-away line into one of the many opportunities they had. This omission has led to speculation that Star Wars is simply waiting for the right time to introduce Obi-Wan Kenobi and Satine Kryze’s child. Given all the secrecy surrounding Jod Na Nawood’s name and origin, the franchise may finally be in a place where a character like Nawood could be revealed to be Kenobi’s son.

Korkie grew up on Mandalore, a place with a long-standing treaty with the Jedi that prevented them from attacking one another, due to them being ancient enemies. If Korkie knew of his parentage, it could put an even bigger target on his back, which might be why he only uses the Force when necessary. If Jod Na Nawood is Korkie Kryze, he would be the second Mandalorian Jedi audiences have seen recently, with Sabine Wren also being trained in Ahsoka.

There’s Some Evidence to Support This Theory
Not only would Jod Na Nawood being a Mandalorian play into many of the themes of the New Republic Era, but it could also reveal why he’s so willing to help these children. He could be looking for a safe way to get back to Mandalore and reunite with his aunt Bo-Katan and the rest of his people. Additionally, if Nawood was a Mandalorian, it would make sense that he was in the outer reaches of the galaxy, as the Mandalorian people scattered after the Night of a Thousand Tears.
Additionally, Jude Law revealed that he fought for Jod’s hair to be short because of his helmet. It’s important to note that Jod Na Nawood hasn’t been seen wearing a helmet in any promotion for Skeleton Crew, so that may be one of the big reveals of the season. The show’s creators may be trying to hide his Mandalorian connection until the time is right. No matter what Jod Na Nawood’s origin and background, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of Force user he will be when Skeleton Crew premieres.
