Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery star Kerry Washington raved about working with Rian Johnson and the Benoit Blanc movie’s ensemble cast. Washington will be joining a whole host of new cast members for the Daniel Craig-led mystery movie, which will see Blanc tackle yet another case promising plenty of twists and turns. Additional cast members in Wake Up Dead Man include Josh Brolin, Thomas Haden Church, Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack, Josh O’Connor, Jeremy Renner, Andrew Scott, and Cailee Spaeny.
Speaking exclusively with Screen Rant, Washington explained how great a time she had filming Wake Up Dead Man, praising Johnson for his creative skills and reminiscing about being on set throughout summer 2024. The actor said she can’t reveal any details about the movie, but does promise an exciting installment in the Knives Out franchise she was grateful to be part of. Check out what Washington had to say about the forthcoming sequel below:
Oh, my gosh. It’s so exciting. I got to see Rian when he came to the big party that I had for my star on the Walk of Fame, and I missed him. I was so happy to see him. We wrapped a few months ago; we were filming this Summer. It was so great to see him and to talk to him about how editing is going. Making that film was such a joy.
Obviously, I can’t tell you a single thing about the movie other than Daniel Craig is in it, but it’s fantastic. It was so fun to work with this cast. We adore each other. We are so excited to get to share this film with the world, and I feel so lucky that I get to be a part of that ensemble.
What Washington’s Statement Says About Wake Up Dead Man
Knives Out 3 Is Going To Be Just As Exciting As The Previous Two
The upcoming Wake Up Dead Man is the second Knives Out sequel to be produced for Netflix, following their release of Glass Onion in 2022. Much like the previous two installments, Craig’s Blanc is expected to be the only returning character, investigating a new mystery that involves at least two priests and a police officer. While concrete details about the movie haven’t been revealed yet, Washington’s excitement indicates the major mystery will be just as interesting and full of twists as the first two were.

Since Glass Onion ended with the entire mystery wrapped up, the same is likely going to happen in Wake Up Dead Man, especially since a sequel hasn’t been greenlit. Whatever the whole mystery ends up being, Washington’s words highlight just how engaging it’s going to be. With the sequel being slightly more complex in its storytelling and themes than the original, perhaps the third installment will push the envelope even more with its unique storyline. It could be under wraps because, whatever surprises are in store, they’re the most subversive Johnson has presented in his work so far.
